Winter. Freezing cold and snow down to many valleys and lowlands leave the anticipation of carefree powder turns in open terrain rise. The avalanche warning services have been active again for a few days and inform about the current situation in the mountains.

Well prepared for the terrain
risk'n'fun, the freeride training program of the Alpenvereinsjugend, can already look back on a packed November with numerous FreerideStarter Workshops in the context of the Alpine Fair Innsbruck and the Freeride Film Festival across the Alps look back. This weekend, it's off-road for the first time. In Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Styria start the DROP IN days. To the dates are all freeride enthusiasts Skiers and snowboarders are invited to brush up on standard procedures for a successful freeride day together with the mountain guides and trainers from risk'n'fun TEAM.

In the first week of January the LOCALS Dates for local young people in their winter sports areas on the program. The risk'n'fun team comes directly to them and is available all day with the 14 - 16 year olds on snowboards or skis in the backcountry. Together, runs are scrutinized and topics such as communication among each other or the proper use of emergency equipment are addressed. The LOCALS dates are always selected at short notice.
