Slopestyle Weltcup Finals neu im Corvatsch Park in Silvaplana - Board Generation
Corvatsch AG is pleased to host the FIS Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup Finals on 27 and 28 March 2021 in addition to the 8th Freeski edition (26/27 March 2021). Corvatsch stands in at short notice for the Czech Spindleruv Mlyn, which had to withdraw from hosting the event due to the Covid-19 situation there.
The 2020/2021 winter season will be different than usual, with far fewer contests. All the more pleasing is the news that snowboarding completes the official Corvatsch program. After only one Slopestyle World Cup, the snowboarders now start the FIS Freestyle World Championships (USA) and come to the Corvatsch Park at the end of the month. Some of them as world champions.
Silvaplana has a history as a venue. Already for the 8th time the Freeski World Cup takes place. The local expertise as well as the exceptional park set-up makes Corvatsch the perfect place for freestylers. The necessary infrastructure is available, the logical step for the organizers is to add snowboarding. The riders are also excited to finish their World Cup season in Silvaplana.
Covid-19: The host organizer Corvatsch AG works closely with the associations Swiss Ski and FIS for a protection concept that goes beyond the cantonal requirements. This strict Covid-19 protocol has to be followed in all areas in order to guarantee a safe environment for athletes, staff and generally everyone involved in the event. At the same time, the FIS ensures that the teams and coaches remain in their so-called "bubble" and travel directly from the overseas contests to Silvaplana/St. Moritz. The event will take place without an on-site audience, but will be broadcast live online and on television.
Promotion for Ski-Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships 2025 Another exciting piece of news is the bid for the 2025 Ski Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships. St. Moritz and the Engadine have submitted their bid together with Swiss Ski. By June, the FIS (International Ski Federation) will decide who gets the nod. Supported by the canton, the Upper Engadine mountain railways with all 12 municipalities, including Silvaplana, and Engadin St. Moritz Tourism (ESTM AG) are excited about the possibility of hosting this important event. The region is very committed to developing its activities and offers for freestyle snowboarders and freeskiers over the next few years.
