The Isolation Project - A DIY Park somewhere in Austria with Felix Widnig & Friedl Kolar
When everything was shut down due to the coronavirus and the subsequent cordoning off, Felix Widnig had the idea to build a park directly behind his house on the south side of Goldeck/Carinthia/Austria. The snow situation was still good, and since we had nothing else to do, we started digging. It was a refreshing opportunity to put aside all the worries of Covid-19.
After 5 days of testing, rebuilding and a fresh blanket of snow we started to ride our very own dream park. The next week we met every morning on the mountain, far away from all the media hysteria surrounding the epidemic. Only 6 of us isolated in mother nature and a perfect park.
The run lasted about 45 seconds, and for the ascent we needed about 7 minutes. After a few warm-up rounds things always heated up quickly and tricks were thrown in. Helmets flew the drone and we filmed each other as best we could.
From day to day the park melted more and more, and we started to do only one-hitter jumps and rebuilt some of the features for the special session. Friedl found a perfect tree, which was turned into a Rainbowrail and later into a Double Rail, which was attacked with the Äsmo for a last isolation session.
Some funny side facts:
-this clip was never intended... -Felix is a monster with his shovel. He dug the top by himself in one day... -We used a couple of kilos of salt to get speed for the first jump... -Lissi was 7 months pregnant.... -We had to set up some of the landings.... -Felix landed 2 kickflips with the Äsmo.... -We didn't see anyone else during the whole time....
