CLEW products 20/21: Sitting in the snow to strap on and off the snowboard is annoying. But these times are over. With the snowboard binding of the Munich startup CLEW, all you have to do is: get in, snap in, ride off. The jury of the ISPO Award at the sports fair in Munich honoured this new development. The PreRider convinces the experts, both in terms of innovation, function and design. The product is chosen as Gold Winner in the category snowboard equipment. On the first day of ISPO Munich 2020, CLEW founders Johannes Weckerle, Jakob Schneider and Matthias Albrecht accepted the award.

The entrepreneurs smartly combine strap-on and step-in system so that the boarder can use their favorite boots, regardless of which brand. That is something that did not exist before. The new binding consists of two parts: the boot part, that encloses the boot, and the base, which is being fixed on the snowboard. On a winter day, the idea was born. Just two years later, on October 15, 2019, CLEW presented its binding in the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen“ on VOX. Online sales of the strictly limited PreRider Edition started in October 2019. This is now sold out. From the 2020/21 winter season onwards, the next series will be available in retail stores.
