Girls Are Awesome Slay Days in Innsbruck

Reading time: 3 minutes

The second edition of Girls Are Awesome Slay Days is history. From 27 February to 1 March Innsbruck and Snowpark Patscherkofel hosts over 100 girls and women for the Snowboard and Freeski Festival. Slay Days is all about getting more women into the freestyle culture, celebrating their creativity and know-how share.

On-Snow - The On-Snow Action is the core element of Slay Days and the snowpark Patscherkofel offered a progressive setup for the girls. Fun jam and instructive coaching sessions with Blue Tomato, Burton & Nikita Team- drivers like Emma Lantos, Katha Buchegger and Urska Pribosic offered everyone the opportunity to learn new skills through play. Title such as 'Best Style, Best Attitude or Best Progression' have been awarded, as well there were badges for falls, jumps, jib tricks and... dance moves.

Talks & Culture - The Slay Days included a series of discussion rounds, which were very well received and attended by the participants. Snowboarder Aline Bock and skier Lena Stoffel kicked off the event by talking about their film projects, which they are realizing together. They gave an insight into the challenges they have to face to get 'the shot'. On Friday the 'Women in Boardsports' talk continued with Alba Pardo (founder of SBES Magazine) as host. She invited Lauren MacCallum, Daniela Meyer and Maria Kuzma to join the discussion.

Lauren is a television presenter, writer, activist and director of Protect Our Winters (POW) in the UK. Daniela is the Country Manager for Burton in Switzerland and Maria is a snowboarder and architect working on sustainable water solutions. On Saturday, photographers and artists were in the spotlight at the Art & Photo Show at Kater Noster. Elena Könz, Sonia Ziegler and Miriam Lottes showed their works and answered the participants' questions. Afterwards the group moved on to the Burton Store, where Laura Martinez from 'Life in White' presented photos from her travels. All these women shared their inspiring stories and the participants took the opportunity to ask questions and gain further insights. The most important advice was the following: Don't be afraid to fail, you will grow on your mistakes. Believe in yourself and follow your own path! The programme was completed with daily yoga sessions in the morning, a DJ workshop at Dachsbau with DJ Crystal, a gathering at the Blue Tomato Store and of course the closing party on Saturday evening at Dachsbau with a concert by the Danish Ravi Kuma.

It these shared experiences that bind us together are the high fives, Powder runs, crashes and mistakes are mixed into something special. It is this unique feeling that drives us, these unique places and to protect memories for the future. And that's exactly what it's all about. on Protect Our Winters."
