risk'n'fun FREERIDE: Start into a "dynamic" winter 2020/21

risk'n'fun, the training programme of the Alpenvereinsjugend Österreich for freeriders* from 16 years of age, starts the current winter season in January.
The partly massive snowfalls of the past days let us look forward to these extraordinary times. Being outdoors in nature promises a good balance to the sometimes turbulent everyday life. But being on the move in the wintry mountains, away from the secured slopes, also requires appropriate knowledge and know-how. Therefore, a well-founded training is of great importance in order to be well prepared for independent and prudent actions and decisions.

risk'n'fun FREERIDE has been offering four training levels for 20 years now to accompany freeriders* on their way from runs in the terrain close to the slopes to high alpine adventures. "perceive - judge - decide" is the guiding principle which provides the foundation for training sessions, Next Level, Backcountry Pro and ALPINE PROFESSIONALS.

According to current planning, the start will be on 9/10 January with the DROP IN days in Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Styria. "Mobile and spontaneous" will be decided at short notice where exactly these days will take place in the terrain. From 20 January, the training levels lasting several days will then start. Already in the summer, the BIKE events allowed a lot of experience with hygiene concepts to be gathered, which will now be implemented accordingly in the winter, taking into account the requirements of the catering, accommodation and event sector. Close cooperation with the lodging establishments ensures that all coronavirus-related rules are observed.
"Small groups have always distinguished the work of risk'n'fun over the last 20 years, in this sense this is nothing new for us," explains Dani Tollinger from the risk'n'fun management team. For the evening unit, in which theoretical inputs are discussed and developed together, the room situation is adapted.
Dani Tollinger continues: "At risk'n'fun FREERIDE we are outdoors all day long. This fact is of particular importance. Our perception is that the need to "be outside" has been given an additional boost in the last few months. It is important that with risk'n'fun we can also make an offer in 2021 that is fun and takes us into the mountains, far away from everything that restricts and imprisons us. We have the feeling that this currently corresponds more than ever to the life situation of young people.
