Snowboarders ring in the season at the Hintertux Park Opening

For the 19th time, the snowboard community gathered on the Hintertux Glacier from October 6 to 8, 2023 to take part in the Hintertux Park Opening 2023 to ring in the season. Beginners, advanced skiers and pros, including illustrious names such as Olympic champion Anna Gasser, all came together at the first opening in Betterpark Hintertux. Despite the challenging snow conditions, the park team did an incredible job and conjured up an amazing setup. Whether on the mountain or in the valley - there was a lot going on - also thanks to the rockers from Sempre Caoz, who fired up the crowd at the Metal Battle on Saturday evening. The Hintertux Park Opening has once again proven itself as a meeting point for the scene and Hintertux has shown that winter simply starts earlier there.

AIRTIME - The Zillertal professional snowboarder Werni Stock invited to Werni's Transfer Games by Quiksilver a team session with various transfers and jumps on the jump. A diverse field of riders gathered in the park to tackle the feature in teams. The young Norwegian Oyvind Kirkhus was the man of the day, impressing with many technical tricks, including all 1440 and 1620 variants, and deservedly scooping the most awards. Werni Stock sums up: "The Transfer Games were really cool, everyone rode creatively and casually. It was definitely something different, everyone celebrated it, both riders and the audience in the park. The setup was sensational. Everyone had fun and showed really good snowboarding."

METAL BATTLE ROCKED - The Sane! Gang around Michi Schatz and Max Glatzl presented the Sane! Metal Battle Rail Contest at the valley station of the Gletscherbahn. Hundreds of spectators came and were rewarded with a real jib spectacle and a performance by the rock band Sempre Caoz. In perfect conditions, the specially constructed arena was a hive of activity with rail features that invited riders to perform tricks. The snowboarders showed creative and versatile riding at a high level and thrilled the audience. Jam sessions are fast and always a little chaotic, but that's exactly what makes them so appealing, because the result is a veritable firework of tricks. This was also the case on Saturday. In the women's category, Selin Lakatha scooped almost all the awards and performed some of the best tricks of the evening. After Werni's session, Oyvind Kirkhus also provided some of the most memorable moments in the Metal Battle, for example with his one-foot tricks. In the end, the board was destroyed, but he won two more awards. Selina and Oyvind also received wild cards for the Rock A Rail in Innsbruck at the end of November.

THE NEXT GENERATION - A fixed point every year is the Kids Shred for the little ones. Snowboard legends Gigi Rüf and Steve Gruber were on hand as coaches to provide helpful tips and accompany the young riders. In addition, a Riglet snowboard workshop was held together with the Tux elementary school, where the children were able to make their first attempts on a snowboard right next to the Fernerhaus.

DEMO - Snowboard and ski brands came together at the Tuxer Fernerhaus with new products to test. Whether it was Burton's StepOn binding or Doubleck's ISPO award-winning snowboard, there was plenty to discover and test. SCHNITZEL TIME - Full house at the Movie Premiere Night at the Tux Center. There was also a real treat with the world premiere of "Schnitzel Time", by and with Clemens Millauer, who proudly presented his masterpiece together with Anna Gasser, Gigi Rüf, Werni Stock, Tom Tramnitz, Adrian Krainer & Sani Alibabic.
