Welcome on BOARD

Reading time: < 1 Minute

Now it is about 40 years ago when the first people in Switzerland imported snowboards from America and tried them out. Many of these pioneers were enthusiastic skaters and they wanted to practice their passion in winter as well. Since then a lot has happened in this sport - the former outsiders, who were not even allowed on the slopes in the past, are now even taking part in the Olympics or skiing the steepest slopes of Alaska.

The exhibition offers an overview of the youth and sports movement from its beginnings to the present day. The focus ranges from a global view to Flims-Laax - still today one of the world's most important destinations for sport and community. In cooperation with various people from the snowboard scene, we are working on a back, overview and outlook that appeals to both amateurs and passionate snowboarders.

A cross-section of snowboards from the last 40 years is shown. Interestingly enough I was able to tell my kids about 50% of the boards that I once owned them or that it is in the basement...

The exhibition is divided over 4 floors and offers a good end after a day on the slopes.

Although board generation was a Graubünden snowboard magazine and was founded in Chur and published from there for the first few years, bg didn't make it into the wall of snowboard mags... I think the curator has lost something there. A pity!
