Here we go again! In two weeks, a special edition of the Audi Nines presented by Falken debutsat a brand new location. And with this set-up and this field of riders, there's only one motto: Buckle up!
From 7 to 10 April 2021, the Audi Nines presented by Falken will take place in the Swiss Alps for the first time and will be hosted by the winter resort of Crans-Montana in the Valais. Due to the Corona virus restrictions, the event will be more modest and fewer riders will take part than in previous years. Nevertheless, Audi Nines 2021 promises to be a memorable show thanks to a top-class crew of international top athletes and one of the most ambitious snowpark designs ever.
"We are thrilled and incredibly grateful to be able to host the event during these difficult times," said Nico Zacek, founder of the Audi Nines. "For us, this year is all about camaraderie, fun and progression. It will be a classic spring session that will remind us all why we love what we do."
"It was a huge challenge for our entire team to organize this session in a short time frame," Zacek continued. "But we wouldn't be the Audi Nines if we didn't fight tooth and nail to make our dreams come true. We're really looking forward to showing what we've been working on."
International top athletes go to the starting line
As always, the Audi Nines welcome a select field of the world's best snowboarders* to a session of superlatives. Top snowboarders like Halldór Helgason (ISL), Anna Gasser (AUT), Annika Morgan (GER), Reira Iwabuchi (JPN), Dusty Henricksen (USA) and Kevin Backström (SWE) have confirmed their participation.
The Become A Nine competition is unfortunately cancelled this year due to time constraints. But don't worry - the organizers have invited some hungry young talents to give the established pros a run for their money!
"It's great that the Audi Nines are coming to Switzerland," said Mathilde Gremaud. "This event is always about fun and a good atmosphere. Crans-Montana is a fantastic place for that."
"I'm thrilled that the Audi Nines are happening this year, especially at this time of year," added Anna Gasser. "I'm looking forward to a great session with the whole crew."
Covid-19 remains a serious challenge that must be treated with the utmost respect and caution. The Audi Nines team will take all necessary precautions to provide a safe environment for the riders and production crew. The entire session will take place without an audience. Strict measures will be taken to prevent contagion on site while ensuring that all local, regional and national regulations are met or exceeded.
"At the Audi Nines, the safety of the drivers and staff has always been paramount," said Nico Zacek. "This year, that means a downsizing of the driver roster and staff, as well as a rigorous testing regime for all involved."Further information on the Audi Nines can be found at audinines.com.
