About

Riding sideways since 1993! board generation is back. After more than 20 years of silence, it was time to relaunch bg as a snowboard magazine for adults. But bg started completely different, as a print magazine at the kiosk for the wild generation and the internet was just coming. At that time we were still watching board generation on the Netscape browser and manually tinkering with the pages... Then came Olympia, a first crisis in the snowboard business, which resulted in the temporary end of bg in 1998. A wild ride, which started in 1993 with the launch of Swiss Snowboard Magazine, came to an end after five years, when snowboarding definitely became a popular and competitive sport.

Much has happened since then. Some good and also bad winters were there. But snowboarding has moved further and further away from what it was in the 80s. After all, it was the lifestyle that appealed to people and not the competitive sport. Maybe this is also one of the reasons why the number of boarders in Europe is currently declining. That's why bg is back as an independent medium, which hopefully can show people the joy of snowboarding again and that it's not only about being higher, faster and further.

bg will focus on the target groups longboarding, freeride, selected events, families, 30+ riders, cool personalities, old school and Paralympics. And of course everything that somehow fits into this frame or is so weird that it does fit again. It doesn't matter if someone rides with a hard or soft binding or without binding, but this will not be a platform for the FIS or the Olympic Games. A Ski Federation cannot represent the interests of the snowboarders. It was like this 20 years ago and is still the case today. And that the FIS President prefers to let dictators run tournaments speaks volumes.

So I hope you enjoy reading and yes, if you would like to contribute as well. We are always looking for freelancers with exciting stories or great photos who want to contribute to our lifestyle.
